Desexing is a routine day procedure performed under general anaesthetic by our veterinary team. When you arrive in the morning, we’ll admit your pet, answer any questions you may have, and complete a thorough pre-surgery check to make sure everything is ready.

Throughout the procedure, your pet is supported with intravenous fluids and carefully monitored by our trained staff using advanced equipment. This includes:

• Pulse oximetry to measure oxygen levels and heart rate

• Capnography to monitor breathing and carbon dioxide levels

• Oesophageal temperature monitoring to maintain a safe body temperature

• Blood pressure monitoring to ensure circulation remains stable

Your pet is supervised closely from start to finish, with their comfort and safety our top priority. After surgery, they rest in a warm, quiet environment under observation until they are ready to go home.

Most pets are discharged later the same day. When you collect your pet, we’ll provide pain relief, written aftercare instructions, and follow-up to check healing. Our team is always available if you need advice or reassurance during the recovery period.

Prices vary based on species, weight, sex, age and stage of cycle.

All prices include the anaesthetic, hospital stay, surgery, and a free post-desex recheck if required.

The only cost not included is an e-collar ('cone'). The cost of this ranges between $10-40 depending on the size required.

All patients must leave the hospital with a proper fitting e-collar.

If you would like extra re-assurance before putting your pet under anaesthetic,

we also offer pre-anaesthetic blood testing on the day at a cost of $149.
