Update on our tiny little stray girl 💜

Some of you might remember Jess, one of our nurses who used to work here and was our go-to for kitten raising. She’s taken this little one home for some round-the-clock TLC, with help from her two little assistants over the long weekend.

She’s still very fragile, but is starting to regain her appetite and is toileting more regularly, which are both really encouraging signs. When she is awake, she’s surprisingly chatty and far more confident than you’d expect for such a tiny thing, so we are hopeful that she will pull through this!

We have had a very sick little kitten dropped off to us today.

We suspect she isn't owned, however if you recognise this little lady please let us know.

She is only 550g but is likely actually 7-8 weeks old based on how emaciated she is.

In the meantime she is getting lots of love, medical attention and cuddles.

Meet little Wonky 🐈‍⬛

Wonky is a rescue kitten who came to us with weakness in her back legs, giving her a bit of a wobbly start to life.

It’s always a bit uncertain at this stage what the cause is or what the long-term outlook will be, but what we do know is that she is bright, cheeky, and not letting it hold her back.

Kittens are incredibly resilient, and with the right care and support, many go on to live very happy lives.

Last week gave us a bit of a scare when our very own Practice Manager Olivia’s puppy, Banjo, decided socks were on the menu!

At just 5 months old, Banjo managed to swallow a very sturdy @bondsaus sock which subsequently caused a linear foreign body - a particularly serious type of obstruction where the material gets anchored in one place (in Banjo’s case, the stomach) whilst the rest travels through the intestines. This caused the intestines to bunch up around the sock and start to perforate.

Banjo was quickly admitted to surgery to remove the sock, which had split into two pieces and become lodged in both his stomach and small intestine. After a few rough days we are very happy to report he is now recovering well and back to causing his usual puppy mischief 🐶

We’re not allowed to have favourites… but Hugo certainly makes that rule a little difficult!

After taking himself off on a bushland adventure for a few days and giving everyone quite a scare, we are so incredibly happy to see that cheeky, handsome face back safe and sound.

On this rainy weekend we’re seeing plenty of puddles… and unfortunately, that means a higher risk of leptospirosis.

Leptospirosis is a potentially life-threatening bacterial infection spread through the urine of infected rats and other wildlife. Dogs can pick it up from contaminated water, soil or puddles. Unfortunately Sydney has seen a number of confirmed cases in recent years, particularly after heavy rainfall.

Thankfully we now have a vaccination available to protect dogs against this serious disease. If you’re unsure whether your dog has received it, please get in touch and we can check for you. It is commonly included in the 'C7' or 'C2i' vaccine.

We’ve included a short news video below that highlights why vets are urging dog owners to be aware of leptospirosis. It was released a few years ago, but the message is still very relevant.

You wouldn’t bee-lieve who is now due for his very first vaccination…

Thank you Felix for a wonderful year of cuddles, chaos and greeting every client as though they walked through the door just to see you 🐝💛

Today, we said goodbye to a very special member of our family - our beloved clinic cat, Patrick.

Patrick wasn’t just a cat; he was a constant presence in the clinic, always ready to greet clients down at reception, supervise the carpark from the sunny windowsill upstairs, or curl up on a chair during a quiet moment.

His gentle nature and quirky personality brought joy to our team and to the many students who came to know and love him over the years.

Very recently, Patrick became suddenly unwell, and despite our best efforts and the love surrounding him, we had to make the difficult decision to let him go peacefully.

He spent his final weeks next to the heater in a home with a garden and loving family who doted on him.

We know so many of you loved him too, and we thank you for the kindness and affection you showed him over the years. He will be deeply missed by all of us.

Rest in peace, sweet Patrick. From your snuffly nose to the white tip on your tail, we love you 🐾💙

We have more kittens! 🙀

This is Bobbi and Felix. Both were unfortunately dumped in their young age, have had all their vet work done, and are now looking for a forever home. They are probably one of the most purriest and affectionate litters we have had yet!

Felix is a black/white domestic shorthair, and Bobbi is a bit special as she is a tabby Manx kitten - these cats are born without a tail and instead have a bunny-like nub in it's place 🐰
